Spring Semester (March 1 - May 31, 2019)
Law and Gender
Prof. Enrica Rigo
Prof. Antonella Massaro
7 CFUs – ECTS
The course will introduce different theoretical approaches that address the relation between law and gender: from critiques of the neutrality of the legal subject, to the gender mainstreaming approach and to more recent discussions on intersectionality.
Part of the seminar course will discuss case law relevant in the development of categories that are currently central to debates on law and gender, such as vulnerability, exploitation and consent. Particular attention will be paid to the implementation of the gender mainstreaming approach in International Human Rights discourse and instruments.
Finally, the course will dedicate specific attention to the penal instrument contrasting violence against women at national and European level.
