Mirko Sossai is a lecturer of International law at the University of Roma TRE. Previously, he was Research Fellow at the LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome (2006-2008). He holds a Ph.D. in international law from the University of Siena (2005) and a degree with distinction from the University of Padua (2001).
He is currently member of the Management Team of PRIV-WAR (Regulating privatisation of war: the role of the EU in assuring the compliance with international humanitarian law and human rights), a research project funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union.
He held a research position at the Centre for Studies and Research of the Academy of the International Law (The Hague, 2006).
He presented papers at the inaugural conference of the European Society of International Law (Florence, 2004), at and more recently at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Medford, MA, November 2008) and at the Research Forum jointly organized by the European and American Societies of International Law (Helsinki, 2-3 October 2009).
His main fields of research and topics of publications concern international humanitarian law, human rights and international adjudication.
