Studying Law at Roma Tre
Alice Riccardi is currently Research Fellow in International Law at the Law Department of Roma Tre University, where she mainly works on the interplay between UN sanctions and international criminal justice. Since 2014, she has represented physical persons sanctioned by the UNSC before the Ombudsperson of the UNSC ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee. From 2013 to 2016, dr. Riccardi was Research Fellow in International Law within the FIRB Project “International Disaster Response Law: principles and rules of international and European Union law to prevent and manage natural and man-made disasters”. In 2012 she defended summa cum laude her PhD thesis in International Law entitled “Sentencing in International Criminal Law: A Praise for Consistency” at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. Dr. Riccardi was TLSI Fellow at the Transnational Law Institute of the Poon School of Law, King’s College of London (2015), visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Criminal Law (2011), she served in the Legal Advisory Section of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (2009-2010) and she was legal assistant to the President of Trial Chamber III, Section I of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (2008). She has taught and teaches courses and seminars on international criminal law (Board College of Law, Nova Southeastern University, 2017; Law Department, LUMSA, 2013-2017) and international terrorism (Roma Tre, 2015-2017). Since 2011 she coaches the Roma Tre Jessup Team. She currently manages the Roma Tre Legal Clinic on Human Rights and Refugee Law.
Dr. Riccardi has written on issues covering international criminal law, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, history of international law, and international disaster law. Her monograph “Sentencing at the International Criminal Court: From Nuremberg to the Hague” (Giappichelli Editore-Eleven International Publishing) was out in 2016.
