Roma Tre Team is Italian champion of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition for second year in a row.
The Roma Tre Team successfully defended their national title as Italian champions of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition on 8-11 February 2023. Claiming the trophy for the second year in a row, the team also took home the Best Combined Memorial award for international legal memorial writing.
In April, the team will represent Italy, along with LUISS Guido Carli, in the international rounds, which are based in Washington D.C.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Roma Tre University has been a finalist in the Italian national rounds of the Jessup competition, the world’s largest and most prestigious of its kind.
Team members included Emma Zeppetella, Pietro Salvatici, Mariame Housni, Sindri Federico Garces Lambert and Benedetta Panagia. They were coached by Prof. Mirko Sossai and Dr. Laura Di Gianfrancesco. Giulia Frisina, Sofia Nicolai e Justyna Michalak were Team advisers.
Jessup is the world's largest moot court competition, with participants from roughly 700 law schools in 100 countries and jurisdictions. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. One team is allowed to participate from every eligible school. Teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions of the case. Teams representing 11 Italian Universities participated in the national rounds: LUISS, Campania Vanvitelli, Insurbia, Bologna, Cagliari, Milano, Milano Bicocca, Napoli Federico II, Roma Sapienza, Torino.
