Studying Law at Roma Tre
Emanuele Conte is professor of Legal History at the University of Roma Tre and Directeur d’Etudes at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
He has been Bok Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania (2014) and at: University of Wollongong (Australia) (2015); Australian National University Canberra (2015); École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) - Chaire Yan Thomas, Paris, France (2010); EHESS, Paris, France (2008; 2004; 1998); École des Chartes, Paris (2011); École Normale Supérieure Lettres et Sciences Humaines, Lyon, France (2009; 2006); Univ. de Paris X, Nanterre, Fac. de Droit, France (2005); Univ. de Toulouse I, Fac. de Droit, France (2000); Univ. de Paris II Panthéon, Fac. de Droit, France (2000).
He has been visiting research fellow at the Max-Planck Institute in Frankfurt am Main (1986-1988), University of California at Berkeley (1990; 1999), Wolfson College, Oxford (2018), Columbia University, New York (2019).
He is now senior researcher in the ERC project CLCLCL, based at the University of St Andrews (UK).
Professor Conte published 7 books and several dozens of articles in Italian, French, English, German and Spanish, and is the editor of a volume of the series Cultural History of Law (Bloomsbury), 2019.
He has recently delivered an audio course on “legal History from a European Perspective”, freely available online.
