Prof. Francesco Morandi Full Professor of Tourism and Transport Law at the University of Sassari

Francesco Morandi is Full Professor of Tourism and Transport Law at the University of Sassari, after having taught in the Universities of Genoa, Milan-Bicocca, Modena and Reggio Emilia, and having held the Jean Monnet Chair in EU Tourism Law.
He has received degree in Law from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and PhD in Law and Economics from the University of Sassari. He has been visiting scholar at the “EJ Ourso” College of Business of the Louisiana State University (USA).
From 2002 to 2014, he has been Dean of the School of Economics, then Dean of the School of Tourism Economics and Management, and Vice-Rector of the University of Sassari. From 1999 to 2008, he has been Member of the University National Counsel (at the Ministry of the University and Research), Member of the Faculty of PhD. Programs and Director of University Masters.
He is currently Member of the Consultative Group of Experts of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and he has been Legal Advisor to the Italian Government (Minister of Justice and Minister of Tourism) and to the Government of Ecuador (Minister of Tourism).
He is the founder and President of the Italian Society of Tourism Law (SIDIT) and member, among others, of the Institute for the Study of Transport Law (ISDIT), the Italian Association of Navigation and Transport Law (AIDINAT), and the Italian Association of Maritime Law (AIDIM), as well as other Latin American and International scientific Societies.
Author of more than 200 scientific publications, including 4 books and a Handbook of Tourism Law (now in its 7th edition), a significant part of his publications is devoted to the legal aspects of transport and tourism. He is the founder and Editor in chief of the “Italian Journal of Tourism Law” and Member of the Scientific Committee and Editorial board of several Law Journals, both national and international, among which “Archivio giuridico Filippo Serafini”, “Diritto dei trasporti” and “Rivista del diritto della navigazione”. He is co-founder and co-director of the series of legal monographs “L’Osservatorio del Diritto dei trasporti” (since 2004).
He currently assumes the scientific responsibility of some research Groups on different subjects of law, economics and business and coordinates studies and activities related to transport (air, maritime, rail and road), infrastructure and tourism law, as well as territorial marketing, strategic planning, development of socio-economic plans, management of parks and marine protected areas, organization and management of public and private tourism systems.
